The first thing you need to do before shopping at CVS is to sign up for their Extra Care Rewards Program. You can do this at any CVS or online at CVS.com. Once you receive your card you will want to register it online and also sign up for e-mail offers to receive additional savings and coupons.
Then every time you make a purchase, scan your Extra Care card and you will earn Extra Care rewards or receive instant savings on items featured in the weekly ad. You will also want to scan your card before you begin shopping at the coupon center, usually located at the front of the store. Not only is this machine a price checker, but it will print out coupons. These are CVS coupons that can be used that day and usually good for about a week. Make sure to scan your card at every visit and keep scanning it till it tells you there are no more coupons available.
Extra Care Bucks (ECB): The rewards you earn at any CVS/pharmacy when you use your Extra Care card are called Extra Care Bucks. The ECB will print on the bottom of your receipt to be used at your next purchase.
How do you earn ECB?
*Earn 2% back with every purchase in-store and online.
Your ECB will print quarterly on your store receipt, or you can go online to print them.
*Earn 1 ECB for every 2 prescriptions purchased.
Your ECB will print every 3 months on your store receipt, or you can go online to print them.
*Earn ECB on selected brands advertised in the weekly ads.
These will print on your receipt immediately after qualifying purchase.
You are also going to want to purchase a Greenbagtag. You can purchase one for $.99, add it to your reusable bag and scan it every time you make a purchase at CVS. You will receive $1 ECB every 4th visit.
One advantage to the Extra Care program is that you can purchase more then one item in the same transaction and still receive ECB per item, depending on the limit. However, you do not have to purchase all qualifying items in one transaction. So if one store only has a few items left, you can purchase the rest needed at another store and your ECB will print once you have purchased the qualifying amount. For example, if you need to purchase 2 items to receive ECB and the store only has 1, you can purchase the 2nd item at another store or later in the week. Your ECB will print once the 2nd item is purchased.
The disadvantage to this, is that you can only purchase the limit amount to receive ECB. Therefor you can not stock pile any deals that has a limit.
Another great advantage is that ECB are not considered manufacture coupons. So you are able to use a CVS coupon, Manufactures coupon and ECB all on the same purchase. In addition to that you can also use the coupons CVS will e-mail you, for example $5 off $30 purchase. Just make sure to give any coupons that are for an amount off when you spend a certain amount first because it counts towards the total before coupons. You can really stack your coupons for amazing savings.
