The great thing about Walgreens is that they have a ton of different store coupons that can be used together. If done properly, you can really get some great deals and even some free stuff. I have listed most of the coupons available and how to use them.
In Ad Coupons: Walgreens weekly circular are filled with coupons good at Walgreens. These are store coupons so they can be used with a manufactures coupon.
Walgreens Savings Book: Every month Walgreens puts out a new catalog that contains coupons for the month. You can find them at the front of the store.
Instant Value Coupon (IVC): These are manufacture coupons found in the Savings Book that are good only at Walgreens. These can be used with manufacture coupons. You can also use these with an in ad coupon.
Register Rewards (RR): These are the coupons that print after purchasing promotional products. It is Walgreens version of Catalina coupons. Walgreens will usually advertise Register Rewards in their weekly ads and in the store.
You will only receive one RR per promotion for each transaction. So if you want to pick up multiple toothpastes, for example, you will have to ring them up separately. Also, keep in mind that most RR will not roll, meaning you will not receive another RR if you use the one you received to pay for the same item. So do not use the RR you received from the first toothpaste to pay for the second.
RR are considered manufacture coupons. So if you are using coupons just make sure that you do not have more manufactures coupons then items. If you have a coupon for every item you may have to add a filler item (small inexpensive item that you do not have a coupon for) to be able to use your RR. Or you can use your RR towards a free after RR item that you do not have a coupon for to make your out of pocket expense less or even nothing.
You will also find additional coupons around the store and in different Walgreens magazines found in the pharmacy. Most cashiers are very helpful if you have any questions about what coupons you can use and as long as the register will accept them, so will they. However, you should carry a copy of their Coupon Policy just in case you run into any problems.
When cashing out it seems that giving your RR before your coupons for some reason will help reduce problems. So when possible you should give your RR then manufactures coupons then store coupons. Your RR should be used to cover the price after all coupons are used but before tax.
Walgreens can be very tricky at first, but once you figure it out you can really save a lot of money.
