Have you signed up for Toluna yet? Toluna is more then just a survey site. It is more of a community. You can earn points by completing surveys, completing polls and opinion topics and inviting friends. You can also register to test products.

It is really easy to get started with Toluna and begin earning points. You will receive 500 points just for signing up and then another 100 points for each profile survey you take (12 in all). You can also get 15 points for each poll you answer. So the points can add up fast.

You can use your points to cash them in for vouchers or a check. You will need 60,000 points before you can request a $20 check. Simple Home Tricks to Save You Money

Budget-conscious people are always on the lookout for ways to save money. Given the unfortunate state of the economy, the need to do so is greater than ever. Thankfully, sacrifice isn’t necessary. Making simple changes around your home can result in big savings over time.

In the laundry room

Wash clothes in cold water. The primary cost associated with washers is from the energy required to heat water. Appliances that carry an Energy Star rating are designed to be more efficient and to save your household money. To increase your family’s cost savings, use your dryer selectively; clothes can be hung up to dry, which will lengthen their life and reduce shrinkage. Save additional coinage by making your own laundry detergent. The necessary ingredients are readily available at the grocery and can be used in all types of washing machines.

Power down

Save money by switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). They use less electricity than traditional incandescent light bulbs, last longer and aid in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. You can also put your lights on timers, especially if you work longer-than-average hours or will be gone for vacation. The easiest money-saving solution is to turn off lights in any room you’re not using.

Appliances that are always plugged in, even when not in use, continue to draw power. Everything from televisions to cell phone chargers will use energy that adds up in small but noticeable increments. Utilize a power strip to switch off items with one simple motion or go a step further and unplug everything that isn’t in use. Before long, you’ll see your utility costs begin to decrease.

Waste not, want not

Instead of running water to rinse or wash dishes, fill a tub with soapy water and use it to clean your tableware. Fill a second tub with clean rinse water to save your faucet from running for minutes on end and wasting gallons of water. Your dishes will come out just as clean; your water bill will drop; and the Earth will thank you.

Refrain from taking long showers. Though relaxing, they use significant amounts of water. Consider installing a low-flow showerhead to cut down on water usage, showering every other day, or installing a timer that signals when it’s time to get out. While you don’t want to start thinking about your daily ablutions as money running down the drain, it’s a visual that might help you remember to shut off the faucet a couple minutes earlier.

These tips can get you on the road to saving your family money throughout the year. Think of things you do that might be costing you money, such as doing partial loads of laundry or having every light in the house switched on. Understanding the financial impact of these simple tasks is a great way to learn about saving money. You might even enjoy the challenge of discovering cost-saving measures around your home.

Get Started Blogging- Week #12 Balancing Blogging & Family Life

This is the final article in our blogging series. I hope that you are enjoying your adventures in blogging and finding a good routine. I know that my biggest struggle with blogging is balancing my time between my blog and my family time.

The reason I have decided to be home is so I can be with my kids. Sometimes I find myself spending too much time on the computer and not enough time with my kids. There is definitely a difference between being home with the kids and spending time with them. I want to make sure that I always have a good balance of blogging and quality time with the family.

The best way for me to keep this balance is by having a schedule and goals. I have my certain times of the day that I work on my blog. First thing in the morning I try to go through my e-mails. Then while the kids eat breakfast & lunch I work on getting my daily posts up. Then while Emma is at school and Jonathan is napping I work on articles that need more concentration. I also have a daily goal of the posts I need to get published everyday. Once I get those done I turn my attention to things around the house. If I find some down time after that, then I will turn my attention back to my blog.

One thing that I have found out is that I will never get everything I to do accomplished. It is just impossible. I used to get overwhelmed trying to keep up with all the other blogs and post every deal that comes my way. This just drove me crazy! There is no way that I can do that and it is a sure way of burning out by trying. So now I just pick and choose what to post with the time I have.

The best advice I can give is to write down your goals and make a schedule and stick to it as best as you can. You will have to revise it as you go. Also keep a note book to jot down ideas you may have during the day. This way, when you are sitting down to blog you know what needs to get done and you will be more productive.

Make Money Searching the Web

If you are looking to make money from home, there are many different ways to do it. The one thing that they all have in common is that none of them are going to make you rich. However, you may be able to make some extra money by using multiple sources.

I have already touched upon completing surveys using cash back sites and mystery shopping. So far this year I have cashed out $213.47 between these three sources.

Another way to make some extra money is with Reward Sites. There are many different type of reward sites. Today I am going to talk about sites that you can make money with by searching the web. Just log into the site or download their toolbar and start earning points by doing normal searches.

My top 3 sites to make money by searching the web-

1. SwagBucks- You can randomly win SwagBucks by doing searches on your SwagBucks toolbar. You will also earn 1 SB a day just for using the toolbar.

Make Money As A Mystery Shopper

Making extra money from home is going to involve multiple streams of income. None of the companies I have mentioned so far is going to make you rich, but if you have multiple sources of money coming in, they can really add up.

We have already touched upon completing surveys and using cash back sites. Today I want to talk about mystery shopping. There are a lot of sites that will ask you to pay them a fee and they will provide you with companies. This is not necessary. Just like survey companies, you do not need to pay to get signed up.

I have joined a few companies, but dsg associates has been the only one that I have actually done work for and got paid. Last month I complete an assignment by getting an issuance quote over the phone for $10. It was a very simple assignment and dsg was very helpful and made the process easy. I also like that you can call at any time to speak to someone if you have questions.

Dsg associates will e-mail or call you with possible assignments. You only accept what you want. You can also call at any time to see if there is anything that you may qualify for.

Make Money With Surveys- Hotspex Panel

Surveys are a great way to earn a little extra money every month. So far this year I have completed $127.26 in surveys and cashed out $86.90. I have fallen behind this past 2 months, but have a goal of making at least $250 this year. If new to surveys go HERE to learn how to get started.

Hotspex Panel is a new survey company I just joined. Surveys can be as simple as answering a few quick questions to as involved as working with 3D prototype product models. For participating in each survey you will earn valuable Hotspex BUX (points).

Once you complete 5 e-mail invited surveys you will become a VIP member and be able to spend your BUX in the Bank for Amazon gift cards or Paypal. The minimum dollar amount available for a PayPal funds is $25.00. There are two (2) different increment amounts available:

Make Money With Surveys- HCDSurveys

Doing online surveys is a great way to make a little extra money from home. You will not get rich from this but I feel that if you find the right companies they can be worth your time. I have set a goal of making $250 this year from doing surveys. In order to accomplish this I will need to make around $5 a week.

I did not hit my goal last week. I was pretty busy and just logged into MySurvey. However I did receive two different test products from MySurvey that does value over $5.

Here is what I made last week:

MySurvey- 205 pts ($1.86)

This Weeks Total: $1.86 ($3.14 short)

Total For the Year: $124.03 ($49.03 over goal)

Payments Received for Year: $66.90

HCDSurveys is another survey site that I really enjoy. The surveys are a lot of fun to take. Last year I received a survey each week on American Idol. They also host an annual Super Bowl commercial survey.

The point system is a simple one in which $1 is equal to 100 points. On average, you will earn between $1 (100 points) to $5 (500 points) per study. From time to time, you may be invited to a survey that does not offer an incentive for participating. Each invitation you receive to participate in a survey will tell you how much money you will earn for completing the survey. Then you can decide which surveys you would like to participate in. HCDSurveys pay in check. You can cash out once you hit 1,000 points, $10.

One thing that I really like about HCDSurveys is that they will pay you 10 points ($.10) for surveys that you screen out of. You can also make money with them by referring your friends. You will receive 50 points ($.50) for every person you refer using your personal link who becomes a verified panel member.

The only negative of HCDSurveys is that I do not receive a lot of invitations. However I did receive an e-mail from them last week that they were going to be sending more surveys.

I currently have 1065 points ($10.65)
