There are still openings in the Nielsen Homescan Consumer Panel. I was accepted into this program in August. I received my scanner two months ago. The way it works is that I need to scan all purchases that I make. I was surprised to find out that it really does not take me too long to do this. Some stores are quicker then others because I do not have to enter prices for each item. So my large grocery shopping trips I just scan the item and enter coupons as I put them away.

In addition to earning points every week for transmitting my purchases, I can get bonus points each month if done on time. I have also received a few surveys to fill out for even more points.

In two months I have accumulated 4,450 points. That is about half way in qualifying for any prizes. Prizes range from 9,000 to 315,000. I have accumulated points quicker then I thought I would. I have also just joined Nielsen’s Homescan Online Panel and will be receiving 2,000 points for that and then an additional 1,000 points every 6 months. All I had to do for that was download software onto my computer.

I am personally enjoying the program so far. I was worried about it taking too much time but it really has not been bad. I am going to continue with this program and hopefully by next Christmas I can use the points for some great gifts.
