CVS- August 9th.

fs08064_giftcards_promo1There was not a lot that I needed from this weeks sales flier at CVS. However I did need to go to pick up my prescription and had a $5 off $25 purchase and over $15 in ECB. So I figured it was a good time to pick up some items that I have been needing but were not on sale.

When I got there I scanned my Extra Care Card to see if any coupons would print. I was very excited to get a coupon for a $25 gift card with any new or transferred prescription. Since I was there to pick up a new perscription I was able to use it and received my gift card. I also asked about the ReadyFill program and received a coupon book filled with $25 in coupons.

I then took all my coupons and gift card and did some shopping. Here is what I purchased:

Sharpie Highlighters Sale .99¢
Used $1 off coupon
Final Price: Free

Lotrimin $8.99
Used $2 off coupon
Final price: $6.99

Neutragena Face Wash $7.99
Used $1 off coupon
Final Price:
$6.99

ConAir rubber bands $1.99

Golf Cart Set $4.79
(Emma has been wanting this toy for some time now. All summer toys were 30%-40% off. Plus it worked perfect to get my total up to $25 to use my coupon.)

Total Price after tax was: $25.76
Used $5 off $25 purchase
Used $4 in manufactures coupons
Used $13.97 in ECB
Final Price: $2.79 (Put on Gift Card- remaining balance $22.21)

I do want to mention that normally I would make sure that my total was over $25 before tax when using a coupon. I did not realize that the golf cart was marked down when I cashed put. Fortunately the cashier still took the coupon. However I would not expect it to work like that in the future.

I did want to mention a Freebie this week at CVS that I did not get. This is a 3 Day sale (Sunday, Monday $ Tuesday).
Revlon ColorStay Mineral Mousse Makeup $9.99
Used $1 off coupon from 7/19 SS
Get $9.99 in ECB
Final Price: $1 profit after ECB.

CVS- What You Need To Know.

newlogo

card_3The first thing you need to do before shopping at CVS is to sign up for their Extra Care Rewards Program. You can do this at any CVS or online at CVS.com. Once you receive your card you will want to register it online and also sign up for e-mail offers to receive additional savings and coupons.

Then every time you make a purchase, scan your Extra Care card and you will earn Extra Care rewards or receive instant savings on items featured in the weekly ad. You will also want to scan your card before you begin shopping at the coupon center, usually located at the front of the store. Not only is this machine a price checker, but it will print out coupons. These are CVS coupons that can be used that day and usually good for about a week. Make sure to scan your card at every visit and keep scanning it till it tells you there are no more coupons available.

Extra Care Bucks (ECB): The rewards you earn at any CVS/pharmacy when you use your Extra Care card are called Extra Care Bucks. The ECB will print on the bottom of your receipt to be used at your next purchase.

How do you earn ECB?

*Earn 2% back with every purchase in-store and online.
Your ECB will print quarterly on your store receipt, or you can go online to print them.
*Earn 1 ECB for every 2 prescriptions purchased.
Your ECB will print every 3 months on your store receipt, or you can go online to print them.
*Earn ECB on selected brands advertised in the weekly ads.
These will print on your receipt immediately after qualifying purchase.

CVS/pharmacy Green Bag Tag - "Tag your reusable bag" and get $1 ExtraBuck every 4th visitYou are also going to want to purchase a Greenbagtag. You can purchase one for $.99, add it to your reusable bag and scan it every time you make a purchase at CVS. You will receive $1 ECB every 4th visit.

One advantage to the Extra Care program is that you can purchase more then one item in the same transaction and still receive ECB per item, depending on the limit. However, you do not have to purchase all qualifying items in one transaction. So if one store only has a few items left, you can purchase the rest needed at another store and your ECB will print once you have purchased the qualifying amount. For example, if you need to purchase 2 items to receive ECB and the store only has 1, you can purchase the 2nd item at another store or later in the week. Your ECB will print once the 2nd item is purchased.

The disadvantage to this, is that you can only purchase the limit amount to receive ECB. Therefor you can not stock pile any deals that has a limit.

Another great advantage is that ECB are not considered manufacture coupons. So you are able to use a CVS coupon, Manufactures coupon and ECB all on the same purchase. In addition to that you can also use the coupons CVS will e-mail you, for example $5 off $30 purchase. Just make sure to give any coupons that are for an amount off when you spend a certain amount first because it counts towards the total before coupons. You can really stack your coupons for amazing savings.

Recap:
1. Scan Extra Care card at Coupon Center till there are no longer coupons available.
2. Do your shopping.
3. Cash out.
4. Give your CVS Extra Care card and Greenbagtag to be scanned.
5. Give any $ off/$ purchase coupon.
6. Give any manufactures coupons.
7. Give any CVS coupons.
8. Give any ECB. Can use as many as possible to pay remaining amount before tax.
9. Check receipt to make sure all ECB have printed.

*Don’t forget to link your Extra Care card to your UPromise account and start saving for college with eCoupons.
