Walgreens: What You Need To Know.
Posted by Jennifer Billy on April 10, 2009
The great thing about Walgreens is that they have a ton of different store coupons that can be used together. If done properly, you can really get some great deals and even some free stuff. I have listed most of the coupons available and how to use them.
In Ad Coupons: Walgreens weekly circular are filled with coupons good at Walgreens. These are store coupons so they can be used with a manufactures coupon.
Register Rewards (RR): These are the coupons that print after purchasing promotional products. It is Walgreens version of Catalina coupons. Walgreens will usually advertise Register Rewards in their weekly ads and in the store.
You will only receive one RR per promotion for each transaction. So if you want to pick up multiple toothpastes, for example, you will have to ring them up separately. Also, keep in mind that you will not receive another RR if you use the one you received to pay for the same item. So do not use the RR you received from the first toothpaste to pay for the second.
RR are considered manufacture coupons. So if you are using coupons just make sure that you do not have more manufactures coupons then items. If you have a coupon for every item you may have to add a filler item to be able to use your RR. Otherwise you can use your RR towards a free after rebate or free after RR item so you will not have any out of pocket cost.
EasySaver Catalog (ESC): Every month Walgreens puts out a new catalog that contains coupons and mail in rebates for the month. You can find them at the front of the store.
Instant Value Coupon (IVC): These are manufacture coupons found in the ESC that are good only at Walgreens. These can be used with manufacture coupons. I have found some cashiers that did not want to use both, however I did check with the manager and it is allowed. You can also use these with an in ad coupon.
EasySaver Rebates(ESR): You can submit your rebates once a month by mail or online. If you choose to receive your rebate in the form of a Walgreens gift card they will give you an additional 10%.
You will also find additional coupons around the store and in different Walgreens magazines found in the pharmacy. Most cashiers are very helpful if you have any questions about what coupons you can use and as long as the register will accept them, so will they. Giving your RR before your coupons for some reason will help reduce problems. So when possible you should give your RR then manufactures coupons then store coupons.
